Terminal 1 vs Terminal 2 at Frankfurt Airport: Where to Find Your Taxi

Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1 arrivals exit with taxi rank

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) operates two main terminals, connected by the free Skyline shuttle train. Knowing which one your flight arrives at — and where the taxi stand is — saves you 15+ minutes of confused wandering after a long flight.

Quick reference: which airline uses which terminal

TerminalMain airlines
Terminal 1Lufthansa, Star Alliance (United, Air Canada, Singapore, ANA, Turkish, Swiss, Austrian, Air China, EVA, Egyptair, Ethiopian)
Terminal 2Most other carriers: Delta, American, British Airways, KLM, Air France, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, JetBlue, Condor, Ryanair, easyJet, China Eastern

Always confirm with your boarding pass — terminal assignments change occasionally, especially during airline alliance reshuffles.

Terminal 1 — Lufthansa hub

The larger of the two, Terminal 1 has three concourses (A, B, C) and three Arrival halls (A, B, Z). The official taxi rank is on the ground floor of Arrivals B, just outside the exit. Walk through automatic doors, follow signs for “Taxi” — the queue forms along the curb.

Pre-booked taxi pickup at T1

Your driver waits in the Welcome Meeting Point in Arrivals Hall B (between exits B5 and B6) with a name sign. From here it is a 2-minute walk to the parking garage where the car is waiting.

Terminal 2 — international and low-cost carriers

Terminal 2 has two concourses (D and E) and is structurally simpler. The official taxi rank is in the forecourt outside Arrivals D. Pre-booked drivers wait at Meeting Point D2 — a small kiosk just inside the Arrivals door.

Skyline — the free terminal shuttle

If you arrive at Terminal 2 but your hotel shuttle / pre-booked driver is at Terminal 1 (or vice versa), the Skyline shuttle train runs every 2–3 minutes, takes 2 minutes between terminals, and is free. Look for “Sky Line” signs in the public area.

How long after landing until you can meet your taxi?

Plan for these times after wheels-down:

  • Schengen flights (Europe): 25–35 min (no passport control)
  • Non-Schengen flights (US, UK, Asia): 45–75 min (passport control + baggage)
  • EU citizens with EasyPass: shave 15 min off the above
  • If checking only carry-on: shave 15–20 min

Pre-booked transfers include 60 minutes free wait — covers passport control delays + the time you need to find the meeting point.

Terminal 3 — note for the future

FRA’s new Terminal 3 is under construction, with partial opening expected in 2026. It will primarily handle low-cost carriers (Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air). When it opens, taxi access will be via a dedicated ramp on the south side of the airport — about 8 minutes by car from the current Terminals 1/2 area.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming all flights arrive at T1 — many North American flights now use T2
  • Using the long-distance train station instead of the regional one — they look similar but serve different routes
  • Walking out of the wrong arrivals hall — your pre-booked driver waits at a specific point
  • Tipping the curbside “helpers” — official porter service is free for pre-booked transfers

What to do if your driver is not at the meeting point

If your pre-booked driver isn’t visible:

  1. Stay at the meeting point — do not leave the area
  2. Check WhatsApp — you should have driver contact from your booking confirmation
  3. Call dispatch — for AT Rides & Tours: +49 176 55656433
  4. Common cause: traffic jam on the airport approach road; usually 5-min delay max

Booking the right transfer for your terminal

When booking your transfer at our airport transfer page, the form asks for your terminal. If you don’t know yet, leave it blank — we read it from your flight number automatically.
